1280 × 320 · JPG · cached for a year
Want it in 4K, with a pixel or dither finish, or in your brand's colours? Open it in the studio.
[](https://www.gradients.studio/readme-header)Paste it at the top of your README. The image is drawn once and served from the CDN after that, so it loads as fast as a file in your repo.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes, with no account and no watermark. The image URL is meant to be used in public READMEs, docs and link previews.
Does it work on GitHub?
Yes. GitHub fetches images through its own proxy and caches them, so the header loads fast for everyone who opens your repository.
Will the image ever change?
No. The same URL always draws the same image, and it's cached for a year. To change the header, make a new one and replace the line.
How big can it be?
Up to 1280 pixels on each side, which covers README headers, GitHub social previews and link cards. For 4K or a pixel or dither finish, open the design in the studio and export it.
Can I set the colours myself?
Yes. Every studio setting works in the URL: style, bg and colors (hex without the #), seed, grain and blur. The easiest way to get them is to design it in the studio and copy its link.
