The best grainy gradient generators in 2026, compared

Ten tools that put grain or noise into a gradient, side by side on how big they export, how the grain is made, pixel and dither, animation, price and sign-up. Several are free and very good; the short answer says which to use for what.

Updated October 2026Facts checked

We make Gradients Studio, one of the 10, and we're not affiliated with the other 9. Their facts come from their own sites, linked on each card; where a site doesn't say, neither do we. Written by Anusandhan.

The short answer

The best tool for each job, in one line. Each name jumps to its details.

  • Best for very large or print-ready grainy gradients, free: Jukebox Print Gradient Maker.

Up to 16,384px, 300 dpi presets with bleed, no sign-up or watermark.

  • Best for grainy mesh gradients at 4K for sites, launch posts and decks: Gradients Studio.

Grain rendered into the file at export size, four mesh styles, every aspect ratio; 5 free 4K exports a month.

  • Best for grainy SVG for the web: fffuel gggrain.

Small files that scale with the page; free for commercial use.

  • Best for animated grainy gradients: FeralUI Gradient Builder or MagicPattern.

FeralUI exports MP4 for free; MagicPattern's shader editor exports MP4 and WebM on a plan.

  • Best for grain with pixel and dither looks: Gradients Studio or World of Gradients.

Ours applies pixel cells and Bayer, halftone or glyph dithering to the gradient; World of Gradients has dithering, halftone and pixel effects in a €3/month editor.

  • Best for a random grainy background in one keypress: Noise & Gradient.

Press space until one fits; free at 1000px, 4000px for a one-time $10.

How we compared

We started from what Google, Bing and AI answers show for “grainy gradient generator” and “noise gradient generator” in October 2026, kept the tools that make the gradient themselves (not ones that only add grain to a photo), and added the strongest Figma plugin.

For each, we read its own pages on the date above. Where a fact came from the site's published code rather than its copy (Noise & Gradient's Pro sizes, FeralUI's size caps), the text says so.

Prices and limits change. If something here is out of date, write to hello@gradients.studio and we'll fix it.

Questions

What is the best grainy gradient generator?
For grainy mesh gradients at 4K for sites, launch posts and decks: Gradients Studio. For very large or print-ready files for free: Jukebox Print's Gradient Maker. For grainy SVG: fffuel gggrain. For animation: FeralUI. Inside Figma: the Grainy Gradient plugin.
What is the best free grainy gradient generator?
Jukebox Print's Gradient Maker (up to 16,384px), Aurora Gradient (up to 7680px with CSS), fffuel gggrain (SVG), FeralUI (with MP4) and Noise Gradient (up to 2000px) are free with no sign-up. Gradients Studio's free plan gives 5 free 4K exports a month, and the first download needs no account.
Why add grain to a gradient?
Smooth gradients show visible bands on large or compressed screens, especially in dark blurs. Grain breaks the steps up so the eye reads a smooth fade, and it adds a printed, tactile feel. It works best rendered into the image at its final size, so it isn't scaled or blurred away.
Grainy gradient as SVG or as an image?
SVG grain (fffuel gggrain, Noise Gradient's SVG) is tiny and scales, but it's an SVG filter, so it can look different between browsers and apps. A raster image (Gradients Studio, Jukebox, Aurora Gradient) looks the same everywhere: in slides, social posts and design files.
