Six to start from
Rendered at 16:9 by the studio's own renderer. Each opens there at this size, ready to change and export.
Most of the image is a bonus
Only about a sixth of channel art is seen on every device. The rest is for TVs and wide windows, which is why a gradient suits it: the parts that get cropped are just more colour, never half a word.
The settings on this page
Grain at 25%, lighter than the studio's default, so a 4K file stays well under YouTube's 6 MB limit while the dark areas keep enough texture not to band.
Match your thumbnails
Use the same palette for the banner and the backgrounds of your thumbnails and the channel reads as one thing. Save it as a preset in the studio to come back to the exact settings.
Other sizes
The same studio, set to another place a background goes.
