LinkedIn's recommended size for a profile background. The studio's 4:1 frame is the same shape.

On a desktop profile your photo sits over the lower left, about a fifth of the width. Phones crop the sides a little, so keep words away from the edges.

Light where the words go

Most banners carry a line of text: what you do, a product name, a URL. Put it in the right two thirds, over the calmer part of the gradient, and let the colour gather on the left behind your photo, where nothing needs to be read.

Why a gradient works here

A banner is seen at a dozen sizes, from a full desktop profile to a thumbnail in search. Soft colour fields survive all of them, where a photo or a busy pattern turns to mush at the small end.

Company pages are a different size

A LinkedIn company page cover is 1128 × 191, closer to 6:1. Export at 4:1 and LinkedIn's cropper takes a centred band out of it; a gradient doesn't mind losing its top and bottom.

Questions

What size is a LinkedIn banner?
1584 × 396 pixels, a 4:1 ratio, under 8 MB, as a JPG or PNG. The studio's 4:1 frame is exactly that shape; its exports are larger, and LinkedIn scales them down without any crop.
Will my profile photo cover part of it?
Yes, the lower-left corner on desktop. The figure on this page shows roughly where. Keep text and logos to the right of it.
Is it free to download?
Yes. The first download needs no account: 1920 × 480 at 4:1. A free account exports 5 4K images a month, 3840 × 960 at this ratio, with no watermark.
Can I use my own colours?
Yes. Every example opens in the studio at 4:1. Change the palette (paste your brand's hex codes), the style, the grain and the blur, then export.
